A fishing influencer from California disappeared while fishing off the Baja Coast earlier this week, sparking a desperate and ongoing search.

Mikey Rijavec, best known for his “Fish and Sips” YouTube channel, was last heard from on Tuesday, when he issued a mayday call while fishing some eight miles away from the coast, NBC News reported. Fellow anglers tried assist him with an engine issue by phone, but the call was suddenly disconnected before the issue could be resolved.

The YouTuber’s 14-foot long skiff was later found some five miles from shore. It was missing its six-horsepower outboard engine when it was discovered.

In the days since his disappearance , private boat owners, the Mexican Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard have scoured the waters in hopes of finding the missing fish
