CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - With confirmation coming on Thursday that U.S. Border Patrol agents would be deployed to Charlotte , CBS News obtained more details about the agency’s operation.
In a Nov. 13 news release, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said the sheriff was made aware on Nov. 12 that Border Patrol was coming to the Charlotte area as soon as Saturday, Nov. 15, or the early part of next week. In that release, the sheriff’s office said specifics about Border Patrol’s operation were not immediately given.
CBS, though, got more information. Sources told the media outlet that the operation in Charlotte would be relatively short, and could only last one week. Another operation was also reportedly in the works in New Orleans.
