CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A building tied to master blacksmith Philip Simmons was unanimously denied demolition at a BAR review meeting Thursday night.
The city’s Board of Architectural Review considered a request to demolish 30 Blake Street, which is the most front-facing portion of the Philip Simmons property. The owners of the property, who are a part of the Simmons family, applied for the demolition permit. The entire property consists of the Simmons workshop, museum and his house, which is the building that was up for demolition due to its deteriorating condition.
