MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — When West Virginia opposes Arizona State on Saturday afternoon from Mountain America Stadium, Mountaineer head Rich Rodriguez will pursue his 195th career victory and No. 65 at WVU.
Rodriguez, 62, ranks as the third-winningest active Power Conference coach behind Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz and Houston’s Willie Fritz.
For the Sun Devils’ Kenny Dillingham, his first time facing the Mountaineers marks the 36th game of a head coaching career that spans three seasons. Dillingham, 35, is the second youngest FBS head coach and was the youngest at 32 upon being hired at his alma mater in November 2022.
While 296 games separate Rodriguez and Dillingham in their head coaching careers to this point, the admiration each has for one another is similar leading into their first matchup.
