BOZEMAN – The C.M. Russell High volleyball team battled all the way to the title round but came up just short Friday, Nov. 14, at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, falling to Bozeman Gallatin in straight sets.
The Rustlers (25-7) took down Bozeman High in the third-place game 20-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 to earn their way to the championship round for the first time since winning it all in 2021, but dropped three close sets 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 to the Raptors.
It was the second straight Class AA title for Gallatin, which finished the season at 28-1. CMR’s only losses at the state tourney this week came to the Raptors as it lost a quarterfinal tilt in three sets on Wednesday night.
