A high surf advisory for the east-facing shores of all Hawaiian islands remains in place until 6 p.m. today.
The National Weather Service expects rough, choppy surf to continue along most east-facing shores through this afternoon due to trades and a short-period, easterly swell that will be slow to subside.
Surf of 8 to 10 feet is expected along these shores today before lowering to 5 to 8 feet on Saturday.
The public should beware of strong, breaking waves and strong currents, which will make swimming dangerous.
A small craft advisory also remains in effect for northwest, windward and leeward Kauai waters, for Kauai Channel, and for windward and leeward Oahu waters through 6 p.m. today.
