WHITERIVER, AZ (AZFamily) — The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) is offering a $5,000 reward for tips that lead to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for killing a White Mountain Apache Tribe teenager.
On Friday, the BIA announced a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the homicide of 16-year-old Challistia Colelay. Federal officials said authorities recovered her body on Nov. 3 in Whiteriver after she had been reported missing to White Mountain Apache police on Oct. 27.
The BIA later confirmed that the death was being investigated as a homicide , explaining “foul play may have been involved.” However, detectives haven’t said what led them to believe the girl was murdered, nor what led them to Coleay’s body.
