NORMAL (WREX) — Two local teams had a chance to punch a ticket to Saturday's IHSA volleyball state championship game. In 1-A, Stockton dropped the first set of its semifinal showdown with Norris City-Omaha-Enfield (NCOE), but stormed back to take the 2nd set, 25-23. That forced a deciding third set and the Lady Blackhawks dominated that one, 25-13, to advance to the state championship match. Stockton will play Cissna Park in the state finals Saturday morning around 10:30.
In 2-A, Rockford Christian lost to Columbia in straight sets, ending the Lady Royal Lions great run through the playoffs. Rockford Christian will try to bounce back and finish the season on a positive note when they play in the third place game Saturday against Riverdale.
