FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WSMV) - Fort Campbell is coming out on top in the new spending bill passed by Congress, according to WKDZ Radio.

The bill includes $147 million in funding for military construction projects in Kentucky, and 38% of that was specifically set aside for Fort Campbell.

Of the funding, $45 million will go toward the outdated Campbell Army Airfield’s 1975 air traffic control tower, which WKDZ reports is one of the oldest in the U.S. Army.

The new tower will make things safer and more efficient for soldiers at Fort Campbell.

Additionally, the Campbell Army Airfield will get $11 million to plan and design a new, modern hangar to accommodate an increase in helicopters, according to WKDZ. Currently at the base, there is a shortage in hangar space.
