NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KTIV) - A school district located in North Sioux City was placed on lockdown, and one person is now in custody.

On Friday, Nov. 14, the Dakota Valley School District was placed on lockdown at around noon.

According to the North Sioux City Police Department , officers were called after receiving reports of a person in the area, possibly armed with a knife.

North Sioux City Police Chief Richard Headid says there was never a threat to a school, and the lockdown was put in place as a precautionary measure.

Authorities say officers were sent to Penrose Drive, quickly took control of the area and a suspect was found and taken into custody.
