A provisional driver has been arrested after a pregnant woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Sydney's north-west overnight.
The pedestrian was struck on George Street in Hornsby around 8pm last night.
Paramedics treated the 33-year-old woman, who was eight months pregnant, at the scene before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical and unstable condition.
The woman and her baby could not be saved.
The woman was walking along the footpath crossing at the entrance of a car park with other pedestrians.
A Kia Carnival stopped to let the pedestrians cross, but a white BMW driven by a P-plater slammed into the back of it.
The Kia Carnival then struck the 33-year-old woman.
The force pushed the woman to the ground.
