FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 48-year-old Fort Wayne woman learned her punishment Friday for a stabbing last year over crack cocaine.

Yvonne Broadnax was charged with murder in connection with 62-year-old Troy Madison’s death in the 1400 block of Fletcher Avenue in June 2024. Last month, she pleaded guilty but mentally ill to voluntary manslaughter in exchange for the murder charge being dismissed.

The agreement called for her to serve no less than 20 years in prison.

Allen Superior Court Judge David Zent sentenced her to 25 years in prison. He added a recommendation that she receive mental health treatment while serving her sentence.
