INDIANAPOLIS — A new report from the congressional Joint Economic Committee's minority members sees Indiana electric bills going up by 16.3% in 2025.

The report found that electricity bills nationwide will go up an estimated $100 this year, but the increase will be much worse for Hoosiers.

The 16.3% increase expected for Indiana would mean about $260 more a year for electricity, or more than $21 extra per month. It's the biggest percentage rate increase for any state.

That increase comes after electricity bills went up an average of $28 a month in 2024. That was a 17.5% increase over 2023, which was already more 9% higher than 2022.
