NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — A Newaygo County man has been charged after he was found with a 17-year-old girl who had been reported missing from southeast Michigan.

Troy Laferriere, a 51-year-old man from Bitely, is facing three weapons charges and a charge for harboring a runaway.

The teen girl in the incident had been reported missing from Oakland County when she didn't come home from school on Nov. 7. Investigators said she had been seen getting into a vehicle with an unknown person.

The Newaygo County Sheriff's Office said they received tips that the girl may have been in the county. Deputies executed a search warrant in the 12,000 block of North Bingham Avenue around 2 a.m. on Nov. 13.
