DOVER — The Delaware House of Representatives passed a bill that would allow the state to decouple from the federal tax code, after hearing arguments that doing so would damage the state’s business competitiveness.
Following three hours of debate, House Bill 255 passed along party lines 26-13; Representatives Franklin Cook (D-South Wilmington) and Tim Dukes (R-Laurel) were absent. It’s expected that the state Senate will hear the bill next week and may have an easier path as it holds a clear majority in the upper chamber.
