The Indiana Senate refuses to meet in December to vote on new congressional district maps, breaking with both Gov. Mike Braun and House Republicans . Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray announced the decision with the simple statement , “there are not enough votes to go forward.”

While at first glance this may seem like courageous resistance to national influence in state-level politics , it is characteristic of an unresponsive legislature and emblematic of everything wrong with a supermajority governing the state.
