A hospital security guard has been arrested for carrying a ghost gun in his backpack at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Police said they received a report that a backpack containing a firearm was left unattended on the fifth floor of the hospital.

Responding officers found a handgun equipped with a large-capacity magazine and threaded barrel inside.

Authorities said the firearm was a ghost gun, with no serial number. Officers determined the backpack belonged to a security officer working at the hospital.

The worker admitted that the gun belonged to him, and he was taken into custody.

The man faces charges including carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a firearm with no serial number and more.
