COLUMBUS — With the longest-ever federal government shutdown in the rearview mirror, U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R., OH) said he plans to work with Democrats to address the increased insurance premiums facing more than 500,000 Ohioans should the Affordable Care Act subsidies expire at the end of the year.

“We made a promise to the Democrats that we would work with them, and give them a vote on the extension of the COVID bonuses that helped subsidize insurance premiums. That will happen, and I hope to work with Democrats on a solution that we can get support for on a bipartisan basis. The details of that will be forthcoming over the next few weeks,” Mr. Husted said.

Mr. Husted, who is running against former U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) in the special election to finish the unexpired U.S.
