Lynn Spino fought back tears as she held up a picture of her stepson.
“He was a 6-foot-5, 22-year-old teddy bear who considered an interest of going into nursing, and because of one failed judgment it was taken away,” she said. “Love you, Nick.”
Her stepson, Nicholas Spino, was killed Dec. 15, 2021, in a car crash at Byrne Road and Dorr Street. He left behind his parents, an adult brother, and an 8-year-old sister.
Ms. Spino was speaking Friday at a city of Toledo event to unveil an installation to remember victims of Toledo’s traffic fatalities ahead of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, which is commemorated on the third Sunday of November each year.
Located in Ottawa Park near the Kenwood Boulevard entrance, the installation features more than 100 black flags rep
