AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Justice Department announced that an active-duty U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Gordon has pleaded guilty in a federal case involving North Korean IT worker fraud schemes.
This is part of a broader effort that also includes more than $15 million in civil forfeiture actions tied to DPRK cyber and virtual currency operations, according to the news release.
Alexander Paul Travis, 34, who was an active-duty U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Gordon during his participation in the scheme, pleaded guilty in the Southern District of Georgia to one count of wire fraud conspiracy, officials say.
