CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte officials are not the only ones bracing for the deployment of Customs and Border Protection agents. Immigration attorneys are also doing what they can to prepare their clients and be ready to react if a client is arrested or detained.

Over the summer, Charlotte saw a surge of arrests from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (or ICE), including near school properties. Now, as early as Saturday, those arrests could also be enforced by Customs and Border Protection agents.

“They have been tasked with immigration enforcement. They can do what ICE does. They can issue notices to appear. They can put people in removal proceedings. They can detain,” said immigration attorney Andres Lopez.
