CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Flags across West Virginia are at half-staff tonight in honor of a miner who died this week in Nicholas County.

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey made the order today to fly flags at half-staff.

Mine foreman Steve Lipscomb’s body was found yesterday morning after six days of searching.

It came after Lipscomb’s mine crew encountered water deep in the mine Saturday evening.

Lipscomb got his team to safety, but was unable to get out himself.

He was 42 years old.
