State Police have made an arrest in a hit and run that claimed the life of a LaPlace man early Friday.

State Police said Gregory Cohn Jr., 24, of Hammond, was arrested later Friday and booked into the St. John the Baptist Parish jail on counts of hit-and-run driving and obstruction of justice.

Darius Crump, 59, of LaPlace, was killed after he was struck by a pickup in the center turning lane of Airline Highway in LaPlace around 6 a.m. Friday. The vehicle that hit Crump, a Ford F-250, remained on the scene for a few minutes before the driver took off, State Police said.

State Police put out a news release asking the public for help locating the truck.

Troopers later found Cohn at his residence. The truck was located at a mechanic's shop, State Police said.
