GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Friday is National Seatbelt Day and Wisconsin is celebrating record high seatbelt use in the state.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported 94% of drivers in the state buckle up, the highest percent since WisDOT began their annual survey 25 years ago.
Seat belts save lives more than 7,000 crashes in Wisconsin last year involved motorists not wearing seatbelts, resulting in 176 deaths and over 2,000 injuries.
Wisconsin law requires drivers and passengers to always wear a seatbelt when on the road.
