Lawyers for Matthew Farwell, the former Stoughton Police detective accused of killing Sandra Birchmore , indicated in a court filing Friday that they intend to seek a change of venue for his forthcoming trial.

Farwell, 40, is accused of killing Birchmore to prevent her from disclosing that he began sexually abusing her when she was underage, and that the pair sometimes had sex while he was on duty. He is also charged with causing the death of Birchmore’s unborn child , whom she believed he was the father of.

But DNA analysis revealed Farwell was not the father , The Boston Globe reported.
