MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Minnesota State Moorhead celebrates American Indian Heritage Month with a variety of events, bringing together the community in Indigenous culture.
To celebrate the month, the first-ever Indigenous Arts and Crafts Market was held on Friday.
The market showcased handmade beadwork, jewelry, artwork, and more.
Many of the displayed artworks came from local artists, alumni, and Indigenous students on campus.
One vendor shares that sharing her artwork has been really exciting.
“One of the biggest discriminations we face against is invisibility, that we’re not seen enough. So these types of events really put us in the spotlight, which is to show that yes, we do exist. And please ask us for our stories, we like telling our stories,” said Sera Longoria, Vendor.
