Last week, the final environmental impact report for Micron’s plan to build four microchip fabrication plants in Clay was made public, and it included an interesting piece of news: The opening of the first two factories will be delayed two to three years from the latest timeline. The first plant was most recently slated to be up and running by mid-2028.

Skeptics of the project quickly latched on to that as a signal it’s in jeopardy of ever getting off the ground.
