Maine, like much of the country, faces a shortage of health care workers. One study said our state could be short 120 primary care doctors by 2030 , and nearly 40 percent of current doctors are close to retirement.
One patient from South Paris with a rare, incurable disease said losing her primary care provider could have a devastating impact on her health.
EmmaMaagic Einhorn said she knew something was wrong with her body, even when she was a child.
"I would fall a lot. I had a lot of bumps and bruises, I would bruise easily," Einhorn recalled.
As Einhorn got older, she had severe joint pain and swelling, and her joints became harder to move. Doctors still couldn't figure out why.
