Mike O’Shea is staying in Winnipeg.
O’Shea will return for another season as head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the team announced Friday.
The announcement comes after some uncertainty about O’Shea’s future, as the Toronto Argonauts were reportedly granted permission to interview O’Shea for their vacant head coaching job.
O’Shea, 55, has been the coach of the Blue Bombers since 2014, compiling a 117-77 record during the regular season. He has set the mark for most wins by a head coach in franchise history and the seventh-highest total in CFL history, and also has two Grey Cup championships in five appearances.
The Blue Bombers were eliminated in the East semifinal by the Montreal Alouettes this season after earning a crossover berth.
