IOWA CITY — Dowling Catholic clinched its second straight state championship at the Iowa high school girls state swimming and diving meet on Nov. 14.
The Maroons led the two-day event with 340 points at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Cedar Falls placed second with 264 points, while Waukee Northwest came in third place with 250 points.
"Our girls really came in ready to fight," said Dowling Catholic coach Paul Eure. "That was kind of the mantra all year was, 'Let's put up a fight. We got a meet ahead of us'. Cedar Falls swam great last weekend at the regional meet, so we didn't know what to really expect this weekend, so our girls were ready."
