CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 76-year-old grandmother is calling for increased security at her senior independent living apartment complex after being carjacked at gunpoint Tuesday morning.
Barbara Ward was getting into her car to go to work when two young men approached her outside St. Luke’s Manor in the Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhood.
The suspects demanded her keys at gunpoint just feet from her apartment building door.
“They said give me your keys, give me your keys, give me your keys right now. Get out the car, get out the car,” Ward said.
Victim fought back but was overpowered
Ward tried to resist the carjackers but was overpowered.
“We was tugging with the keys and I was holding on real tight, he had me bent over the armrest,” Ward said.
