Mayor Michelle Wu is back in Boston after a whirlwind week in Canada, where she retrieved the city's annual Christmas tree from Nova Scotia .
The tradition dates to the 1917 Halifax Harbor explosion and relief aid sent north by the people of Boston, but it was the first time a mayor traveled to get the tree in person.

"This year, under the questions of our federal policy under the Trump regime, which has really unnecessarily put strain on longtime relationships and friendships," Wu said, "I wanted to make sure it was clear that in Boston, we remember and act differently towards those who have been our longtime allies and friends."
