EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Diabetes was the topic of discussion at Friday’s Endocrine Symposium at Michigan State University.
The event coincided with World Diabetes Day, raising awareness for the chronic condition.
“I was diagnosed in 1978 before they had very many medical advancements. There was no blood glucose testing, no insulin pumps, no continuous glucose meters. And I have managed to remain symptom-free. I do not have any side effects from diabetes. I do not have neuropathy, not retinopathy, not nephropathy,” said patient and speaker Melissa Matthews.
This was the 42nd symposium.
