Renowned environmentalist succumbs to prolonged health issues, leaving behind her legacy of ecological conservation inspiring generations
Padma Shri awardee Salumarada Thimmakka passed away in Bengaluru on Friday at the age of 114, following health complications since her November 2 hospital admission. According to sources, her health had been fragile for the past few years. She was admitted to Apollo Speciality Hospital, Jayanagar, after complaints of weakness and loss of appetite, and had a history of respiratory issues and heart problems. Her previous hospitalisations occurred in October 2023, with further complications in 2024 due to age-related illness and respiratory ailments. Despite continuous medical care, her condition deteriorated, leading to her demise yesterday.
