AROUND THE OZARKS (KY3) - Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin and his team are preparing for an increase in hunting-related violations as deer season approaches.
Martin, who has served as sheriff for five years and is an avid hunter himself, said his department expects more calls about trespassing and livestock being shot on county roads during hunting season.
“We have accelerated calls of trespassing, livestock being shot on the county roads, things of that sort,” Martin said. “We prepare for this time of year because we know there’s going to be a lot of night traffic, people in the area settling camp near the National Forest.”
While Martin’s team encounters many law-abiding hunters, they remind them about penalties for trespassing on private property and poaching.
