Ruby Bridges Day was celebrated Friday across the nation to honor the young girl in Louisiana whose bravery ultimately helped end school segregation.
At the age of 6, Bridges became one of the first Black students to integrate into an all-white school.
School across the country held what was called a walk-to-school day.
In San Jose, Notre Dame High School students marked the day by wearing purple and walking from San Jose City Hall and through downtown.
Notre Dame High School is the home of the Center for Women’s Leadership.
