FAYETTEVILLE — The 21st-ranked Arkansas basketball team kept letting Samford back in the game, but the Razorbacks escaped with a 79-75 win Friday at Bud Walton Arena.
Arkansas (3-1) led by 10 at halftime before a bad start to the second half, and the Bulldogs (2-2) never let the Razorbacks get comfortable.
Samford outscored the Razorbacks 11-3 in the first 3 minutes of the period, cutting Arkansas’ lead to 48-46 early.
A quick 6-0 run gave the Razorbacks more breathing room, but Samford answered with an 8-3 run over 3 minutes to narrow the lead back to 3.
Arkansas’ response was a 12-0 run over 4:34 to take its largest lead of the game, 69-54. Billy Richmond grabbed three offensive rebounds during the run to help provide a spark, resulting in 4 second-chance points on a Karter Knox jump
