PLANO, Texas — The news another major tenant was leaving the Shops at Willow Bend mall came as a surprise to Darrell Rodenbaugh, but the rumor the Dallas Stars may be interested in moving an arena to the site makes sense to the CEO of North Texas Performing Arts.

His group has held rehearsals and performances in its four-theater complex at the Plano mall for nearly a decade -- but has seen more and more of their neighbors leave in recent years.

The Macy's has shuttered, the Neiman Marcus store has set a closing date and the Dillard's just announced it's leaving too.

"A lot has changed," Rodenbaugh said. "It’s been a little sad. We’ve had a lot of wonderful retailers and friends that have gone on to other spaces."
