TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Tucson Mayor Regina Romero unveiled the Safe City Task Force during its inaugural meeting on Friday. This new initiative is aimed at enhancing the city's safety and resilience.

The task force focuses on crime reduction, creating secure public spaces, and addressing issues like homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health disorders. It aims to develop community-driven solutions to strengthen public safety.

A diverse group of private sector partners, public safety professionals, and community advocates make up the task force. Members will collaborate to review city policies and develop a Safe City Action Plan, according to a news release.

During the meeting, the task force's purpose and expectations were outlined, and pertinent documents were reviewed.
