Warren De La Salle junior wide receiver Jackson Tur kicked a 39-yard field goal as time expired in the first half of his team's MHSAA playoff game against Detroit King. The booming kick was impressive by itself, a college-level kick that could have cleared 50 yards of distance.
But the real impressive feat was how the scorebook looked after the kick. Not the one that showed the game score – Tur's personal scoreboard: He was outscoring a high-powered Detroit King offense all by himself.
De La Salle (6-6) rode a patient offense and high-octane plays from Tur to a 38-20 win over King (7-5) in the MHSAA Division 3 regional final on Friday, Nov. 14, at Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School in Detroit.
