PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Trump administration announced on Friday that it is appealing the federal court ruling that it was illegal to deploy troops to Portland.
One week after a district judge in Portland ruled against the administration, lawyers have said that they will appeal to the Ninth Circuit.
Attorney General Dan Rayfield, who is leading the effort to block the troop deployment, told FOX 12 he is ready to argue the case again.
“And the judge ruled, ‘Hey, the President does not have authority under this statute to federalize the National Guard. Of course, as we expected, the federal government is now appealing that to the Ninth Circuit,” Rayfield said.
Rayfield said the appeal will give Oregon the chance to present facts about what is happening in Portland.
