CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Some Eastern Iowa business owners said they don’t expect major changes to their operations now that the last penny has been minted.
At Tiffiny’s Tipton Bakery, about 40 percent of sales are cash transactions.
“I don’t do a whole lot with the pennies. I mean, we, like I said, it’s always in our change jar. So we’re just constantly just rebagging them and reusing them. So it all just kind of stays here. But I don’t think it’ll be a huge deal. It’ll be different, but I don’t think it’ll be huge,” Meinert said.
Meinert said customers aren’t concerned either.
“It’s not a big deal. You know, they talk about them not minting it anymore, but it’s just a conversation piece, really, here anyway,” she said.
