The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is seeking community assistance to identify a man accused of fatally stabbing a woman at a Dollar General in Fruitland.

The agency shared photos of the man to their social media and are asking anyone who recognizes him to call 911.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 4 p.m. on Friday and found an unresponsive woman suffering from apparent stab wounds.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she later died, deputies said.

The sheriff’s office added that witnesses reported seeing the suspect leave the area on foot, which prompted a search involving K-9 units, drones, helicopters, specialty teams and other resources.
