Wayne — James Trussell of Romulus plans to go the "whole nine yards" this year for Thanksgiving, making plenty of food for himself, his wife and eight children despite seeing elevated grocery costs.

"Prices are ridiculous. ... We're going to have to substitute and do what we gotta' do," said Trussell, 58, while shopping Wednesday at Fresh Choice Food Center in Wayne. He said he'd be coming back near the holiday to get collard greens and other items at the independently operated store rather than Kroger.

Regardless of his shopping strategy, though, he said, the effects of inflation have not eased, but he won't let it stop him from having a large holiday feast with his family.
