Rainy weather returned to south-east Queensland for a second day on Saturday, with parts of the region hit again by large hail and flash flooding after storms passed through on Friday night.
There was flash flooding in Boonah in Queensland’s Scenic Rim, while hail up to seven centimetres was reported near Goondiwindi earlier on Saturday afternoon.
Friday evening’s storms dumped almost 22 millimetres on the city in two hours, leaving thousands of properties without power. After Saturday’s storms, more than 4000 homes were still without power as of 8.30pm.
In the Lockyer Valley, 61 millimetres of rain was recorded at Mount Berryman before 3:45pm, 55 millimetres at Mulgowie just before 3:50pm and 52 millimetres at Rockside just before 3:45pm.
