No. 4 LSU’s defensive momentum from the SEC Tournament carried into Friday night’s NCAA playoff opener as the Tigers scored three second-half goals to defeat Houston Christian 4-1 at LSU Soccer Stadium and advance to the second round.
Sariyah Bailey led the charge with two goals — one in each half — while Gabbi Ceballos and Ida Hermannsdottir added second-half scores to secure the win.
LSU (14-5-4) extended its unbeaten streak to 12 matches (9-0-3), the longest in program history. The Tigers advance to face No. 5 Iowa, which defeated South Dakota State 1-0 in the opening round. Friday’s victory marks LSU’s first appearance in the second round since 2022.
