The Kingston Frontenacs rallied from a 3-2 deficit late in the third period to beat the Niagara IceDogs 4-3 in overtime at Slush Puppie Centre on Friday night.
Frontenacs forward Kieran Dervin scored on penalty kill with little more than four minutes in regulation to tie the game at 3-all. And Andrew Kuzma’s one-timer in overtime secured two points for the home team.
While four goals don’t pass for a scoring spree, they were a welcome uptick for Kingston. The Frontenacs had scored two goals or less in 11 times this season coming into the Niagara tilt.
Jacob Battaglia opened the scoring four minutes into the game, wiring a shot from the slot that Niagara netminder Vladislav Yermolenko kicked out. The Frontenacs captain pounced on the rebound and slid the puck into a yawning cage.
