MINERAL POINT, Wis. (WKOW) -- Nearly two weeks ago, WKOW traveled to Mineral Point to meet Christy Cole, a social worker and therapist who started a community meal share to support families struggling without their SNAP benefits.

The meal share allows people to cook, drop off and deliver ready-to-eat meals to those in need. Although SNAP benefits have now been released, Cole said there is still uncertainty, particularly with the holidays approaching.

“Many families are trying to fill the gaps, so I’m still out gathering food from the community,” Cole said. Before the interview, she stopped at a local pizzeria for another pickup.

“I went down there and picked up this big, beautiful basket full of bread,” she said.
