INDIANAPOLIS (WNDU) - Indiana Senate Republicans’ decision to leave the state’s congressional districts unchanged resulted in part from grassroots efforts by organizations like Indiana Conservation Voters .

Members of the organization conducted a campaign and held letter writing workshops to send correspondence to the state’s 39 Republican senators. Indiana Conservation Voters typically focuses on conservation issues but celebrated Friday’s political announcement as a victory.

Indiana Conservation Voters normally advocates for greater use of clean energy and protections for the state’s wetlands. Executive Director Megan Robertson said the organization turned its attention to redistricting efforts to protect Hoosiers from what she called a power grab by leaders in Washington.
