In an anti-encroachment operation, the Mohali Municipal Corporation Friday removed long-standing illegal occupations from several parts of the city, including the main road dividing Phase 4 and Phase 2, an area where second-hand furniture sellers had allegedly occupied public space for years.
The “Tehbazaari team” cleared large quantities of illegally stored furniture placed by shop owners for commercial display, which had been obstructing traffic flow. According to officials, “local councillors had repeatedly raised complaints” about the area being misused as an extended marketplace.
The drive extended to Sector 70, Sector 67 and adjoining residential belts, where the corporation seized illegal rehris , roadside stock and other encroachments. The operation began early in the morning
